(Poem by Sophia Shapira)
To discipline myself unbendingly
And stretch myself beyond capacity –
I fear that I may falter and may fall,
And when I hit the ground, may lose it all.
The hoops of fire through which I must jump
So that the woes against me I can trump
So even at the times when I’m undressed
Across the mirror, I may see my best.
