(Poem by Sophia Shapira)
So mighty and majestic strode the beast
Just towering above the little town.
It’s giant wings, they spanned from West to East
As even to the steeple it stared down.
The people down below – they ran afright,
Unsure of what this creature next would do.
For they knew not that in behind this might
The noblest spirit sat the whole land through.
It’s noble eyes – so elegant and fierce,
Throughout the night, they glowed a yellow glow.
The pestilence that would have this town pierced,
It fled from this great beast’s majestic show.
When morning came, the dragon went it’s way.
The townsfolk never learned it saved the day.
