If Not Condemned by What they Think is True

(Poem by Sophia Shapira)

If not condemned by what they think is true,
Then still, there is no way to carry on –
For makes no difference what you say or do.
Their prejudice and hatered’s never gone.

No matter what the evidence you show
Their ways are set, and never will they budge.
They think they chose the way their natures go,
And you they think the same – and thus they judge.

They think they speak the words of God on high
Ignoring that which doesn’t fit their view.
To hurry to a verdict, they aren’t shy,
And don’t take time to check their facts are true.

You’ll never be an equal in their sight,
No matter what on Earth be fair or right.

  1. You have such a way with words! This is excellent. I would not change a thing!
